The questions referred to in your confidential
despatch of the 3rd February are at present under discug-
sion with the War office and an early decision cannot be
expected. I trust that you will be able tqarrange satis-
factorily with the General Officer Commanding's successor
who I am told is on his way. I am not aware that any fric-
tion has arisen in the other colonies to which Order-in-
Council of 1896 has been applied in carrying out that
Order-in-denmeil.
